Biography

Isa is originally from Karleby, Finland, but nowadays resides in London. She has studied drama and theatre and graduated in 2009 from Novia University of Applied Sciences (BA of Arts and Culture in Performing Arts). She has also studied music and singing at Karleby School of Performing Arts as well as improvisation and theatre sports at Vancouver TheatreSports League in Vancouver BC, Canada. She recently finished an apprenticeship in musical theatre -directing with Maria Sid.
2015-2016 she will continue her studies and obtain a Masters degree  in Music Theatre at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London.

After her musical theatre debut at age 16, as Serena in ‘Fame’, she  has appeared in numerous  theatre, opera and musical theatre productions in Finland, Estonia and Sweden.
‘Grease’ (Musikalkompaniet), ‘Around the World in 80 Days’, ‘Fighting Star’, ‘Death of a Salesman’ (Wasa Teater) and ‘My Fair Lady’ (Vaasa City Theatre) to name a few. She has also worked as a producer and member of the opera choir For West Coast Kokkola Opera’s ‘The Magic Flute’, ‘Carmen’ and ‘The Wedding of Figaro’ as well as an assistant director in Wasa Teater’s productions of ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ and ‘Next to Normal’. She recently finished a run as Glinda/Aunt Em in ‘The Wizard of OZ’ at Vaasa City Theatre.

As her artistic thesis she wrote, directed and arranged the music for the music theatre production ‘Långt Till Fjärran Land’ (To a Faraway Land) which premiered at Wasa Teater’s stage ‘Magasinet’. She has also, in collaboration with Alf & Mika Mylläri,  written and directed the international youth musical ‘The Race’, which premiered in Karleby in 2007 and toured Estonia in 2009. In 2013 Isa and Mika wrote the Fenno-Swedish christmas song ‘Vi Fönstre’ (By the Window).

Isa also teaches singing, theatre arts and musical theatre in Ostrobothnia, Finland and frequently appears as both a soloist and background singer at concerts.
She is, alongside actress Sofie Lybäck, one of the founding members of the music theatre group ‘HjonTeatern’ and has appeared in the productions ‘Men, Lilla Vän’ and ‘Two Ladies’. Most recently she co-wrote and directed the music theatre production ‘Mitt Hjärtas Hem’ (The Home of My Heart’), based on the true story of an inspirational female headmaster in Finland in the 1920’s .
